Petitions for Discretionary Review Filed in Trooper and Magistrate Cases

The North Carolina Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court’s dismissals of the class action lawsuits filed on behalf of North Carolina State Troopers and Magistrates for back pay caused by the State’s breach of contract. The Court of Appeals affirmed the holdings that the North Carolina legislature may take away State employees’ contractual rights for future pay without legal liability.
